7.62x25 Pistol reciever build
The receiver  tube comes with a template glued on, it locates the slots
for the ejection port, the hammer and cocking handle, as well as the front
and rear pin blocks and mag well opening.
There are an upper and lower
center line scribed on the tube under the template. These are used to
locate the pin blocks and rear reinforcement pads, so it is important to not
damage them removing the template. When the slots are cut use WD 40 to
remove the template.
First take the front and rear pin blocks and place them on the template
and scribe their front and rear positions with a razor blade. This will give
you the proper location to weld them on after the template is removed.
The next step will be to cut the slots, you can mill them or drill the ends
and cut out the rest with a dremel tool. If you are drilling them center punch
the centers of the holes on the provided blue datum lines.
The ejection port is 5/8" wide, the cocking slot is 3/8" wide and the
hammer slot is 1/2" wide. Cut the magwell opening to the lines, the
magwell will be fitted later. Once the slots have been cut scribe the lines
for the location of the front and rear pin blocks. Then spray the template
with WD 40 and let it soak, the template will come off. Clean off the glue to
prepare for welding.
First weld in the front trunnion, then center the front lower attaching block
and weld it in place. Weld this block on the sides, as shown in the photo.
Next weld on the rear block on the front and rear sides as shown in the
photo. This will allow the lower sheet metal to sit flush with the receiver tube.
Now we will install the rear reinforcing plates, cut the plate into 2 parts.
One will be 2 1/2" for the top and the other section will go on the bottom.
These can either be welded or silver brazed.
