MG 42 Cam section build
The first step is to file the edges of the halves flat and check the width.
I measured 2 cam sections and my receiver and the width you want should
be about 2.210" this will give a few thousandths clearance.
The next step is to clamp the sections together, I used a 1/2" steel bar
inside to get the parts flat and aligned, use the raised portion for the grip
stick as a reference.
when you have it clamped up and the alignment is correct, tack the
bottom together with a series of small welds.
Now clamp and align the top front and tack it in place, use a steel
backer to hold it flat.
Clamp, align and tack weld the rear top section, if it is all aligned
properly you are now ready to weld it up.
