MG 42 Grip tutorial 2
Step 3: Cutting out the grip frame.
Cut out the upper portion of the grip, be sure that both sides are the
same height so the box sits flat and square on the frame. Then cut a
notch in the inner back of the trigger area as wide as the grip and 3/8"
down from the upper edge for clearance for the trigger return plunger
retainer.
Now weld up the fire control box, weld the front edges and bottom as
well as the rear plate on the sides and the trigger stop pin on one side only.

Then clean up the welds making sure the bottom is flat. Round the front
corners as well as the bottom edges.
Next weld on the trigger return plunger retainer, this is centered on the
bottom with the bent up edge sticking over the trigger slot the thickness of
the metal, the slot goes to the front.
Test fit the box to the grip frame, it should sit flat and square. The slot
in side the trigger opening for the trigger plunger should be deep enough
th get the pin and spring in and out. If it all looks good it is time to clamp it
and weld it up.
