Mg15 Semi Auto
I have begun working on the semi auto conversion for the MG15. The first
step was to identify and negate all the full auto features and to modify the
internals so that the receiver will not accept unconverted parts.
I have started this conversion with a dummy receiver made by Wise Lite
Arms. It is a blank slate and perfect for this project.
At this point it is a narrative of the project and not a tutorial, since I do not
know if it will work yet. Once it is finished I will do a full tutorial and offer parts.
The first step is to narrow and shorten the keys on the sides of the
barrel extension so the slots in the semi receiver can be made smaller to
prevent an unmodified one from being installed.
Next hardened steel pins were welded in the front of the barrel
extension to prevent an unmodified bolt from closing and locking up.
Next the full auto sear was ground off the bottom of the bolt and the
bolt was relieved in front to clear the pins in the barrel extension.
The trip slots for the firing pin will both be welded shut to eliminate the
full auto features of the firing pin. With these modifications completed I can
now start working on the receiver.
